Insurance claims and insurance companies
When an insurance company pays for or appraises the repair: the insurer, the adjuster, their report and where the appraisal stands.
A car with body damage, a washer covered by homeowners insurance or an insured phone: when there's an insurance company involved, the repair comes with more paperwork. On any repair's page you can register the claim with its insurer, the adjuster who appraises it, their report and the appraisal status, and the app alerts you to the ones still waiting for the adjuster.
On any repair
Vehicles, appliances or electronics: the claim is switched on for each repair that needs it.
The adjuster, close at hand
The adjuster's name, firm, phone and email, with buttons to call or email them.
The report, on file
Upload the adjuster's report as a PDF or a photo. It's stored privately and only opens from inside the app.
Appraisal alerts
Open repairs still waiting for the adjuster show up in Alerts and in the bell.
Your insurance companies and their adjusters
Add the insurance companies
In Settings → Insurance companies, with their phone, email and tax ID. You can also create one on the fly from the repair.
Add their adjusters
Each insurance company with the adjusters or adjusting firms it usually sends. When you register a claim you just pick one.
Register a claim on a repair
On the repair's page, the Insurance claim card has the Register claim button. Only the insurance company is required: the claim number, policy, coverage, deductible, adjuster or appraised amount can be filled in as they come in.
Choose the insurance company
From your list, or create it with the + button if it's the first time you've worked with it.
Assign the adjuster
One of that insurance company's adjusters, or type it in; if you like, it's saved to their list for next time.
Upload their report
With the Upload report button, as a PDF, JPG or PNG (up to 10 MB). You can keep several documents for the claim.

Awaiting appraisal
You can also flag it at intake: in the last step of the intake, the This is an insurance claim checkbox lets you enter the insurance company, claim number, policy and coverage right away.
The insurance company and claim number are printed on the deposit receipt and the quote PDFs, so the customer and the adjuster know which claim the repair belongs to.
With the AI features turned on, the Read report button in the claim window reads the adjuster's report (PDF or photo) and fills in whatever is empty: claim number, policy, dates, appraised amount, deductible and the adjuster's details. Review it before saving; to keep the report, upload it with Upload report.
Where the appraisal stands
The claim status follows the appraisal: Awaiting appraisal while you wait for the adjuster, Appraised once they've assessed the damage, Approved when the insurance company signs off on the repair and Denied if it isn't covered. You change it yourself from the card, with the Edit button.
Pending appraisals
Open repairs whose claim is awaiting appraisal show up in Alerts, on the Appraisals tab, with the insurer, the claim number, the adjuster and their phone number, and the bell tells you how many there are.
In the repairs list, the Insurance claim filter lets you see only the ones with a claim, the ones waiting for the adjuster or the ones from a particular insurance company. It appears as soon as you add your first insurance company.
The adjuster's report contains your customer's data: it's stored privately and every time you open it a link is generated that expires after a few minutes. If you remove the claim from the repair, its documents are deleted too.
Invoicing a claim (in countries where invoicing is turned on): when you invoice the repair, you choose who the invoice is made out to. By default it's the insurance company, which is the usual case when it orders the repair: the first time, a customer record is created for it with the tax ID from your list of insurance companies. If the insurance company only reimburses the customer, the invoice goes to the customer. Either way it's a single invoice for the full amount, deductible included, stating what each party pays: it isn't split into one invoice to the insurance company and another to the customer. The deductible the policyholder pays is covered by a receipt.
