Referral programme: invite a shop and pay less

Your referral code, how to share it, when an invited shop counts and how much it takes off your plan, all the way down to free

With the “Invite a shop” programme every repair shop has its own referral code. When another shop signs up with your code and pays for its plan, you pay €1 less a month for each one (US$1 if you pay in dollars, or the equivalent in your currency), until your plan is free. You'll find it in the side menu as “Invite and save”.

You pay less every month

1 unit off per month for every invited shop that's paying for its plan, in the currency you pay yours in.

Until your plan is free

The discount never goes above the price of your plan. With enough invited shops paying, your invoice comes to 0.

Only paying shops count

An invited shop brings your bill down from its first paid invoice and for as long as it keeps paying. Just signing up with your code isn't enough.

Your whole team can see it

The code belongs to your shop, not to one person: the shop's admins can see it and share it from the menu.

Where to find your code

Your code is 6 upper-case characters, leaving out the letters and digits that get mixed up when read aloud (0 and O, 1, I and L), for example K7M2QX. Only the shop's admins can see it (technicians don't see the programme), and it's in three places:

On the plan card at the bottom of the side menu

Inside your plan card there's a “Your code: K7M2QX” line with a copy button next to it. The button copies just the code (not the link) and doesn't take you away from the screen you're on. Tapping the line takes you to the “Invite a shop” page.

In the “Invite and save” menu item

It opens the “Invite a shop” page: your code in large type with its “Copy code” button, your invitation link, the buttons to share it, a summary of your discount and the list of shops you've invited. The number next to “Invite and save” shows the updates about your invited shops that you haven't seen yet.

In Settings → Subscription

Below your subscription there's a shortcut, “Invite a shop and pay less: see your code and your referrals”, that takes you to the same page.

If you can't see your code

The “Invite and save” item and the code line only appear for shops taking part in the programme. The public demo and partner accounts (which have their own programme) don't have a referral code.

How to share your code

The “Invite a shop” page has everything ready to send to other shops:

1

Open “Invite and save”

From the side menu, or by tapping the “Your code” line on the plan card.

2

Copy the code or the link

Next to the code there's a “Copy code” button. Below it is your invitation link (sattotal.com/r/ followed by your code) and a “Copy link” button.

3

Send it by WhatsApp or email

The “WhatsApp” and “Email” buttons open a ready-written message in your language (“I use Sattotal to run my repair shop. If you sign up with my code…”) with your code and your link. You can edit the text before sending it.

4

Keep track of your invited shops

When a shop signs up with your code it appears in the “Shops you've invited” list, with its sign-up date, its status and whether it brings your bill down.

The link is the easiest option: the other shop doesn't have to type anything. The code is handy for reading out over the phone or in person, or for anyone who doesn't open the link.

How the invited shop uses your code

Each shop can only have one shop that invited it, and that's fixed. There are three ways to add it:

Coming in through your link

When they open sattotal.com/r/ with your code, they land on the Sattotal website with a banner at the top saying “You've been invited by” and your shop's name. The invitation is saved and the code is already filled in when they create their shop. If they accept cookies it's remembered for 90 days; if not, only while their browser stays open, after which they'll have to type it in.

Typing it in when they create their shop

The form for creating the shop has a “Referral code (optional)” field. It's checked as they type: if it's valid they'll see “Invited by” and your shop's name; if it doesn't exist, “This code doesn't exist. You can still create your shop.” A code that isn't valid never stops them from creating the shop.

Later, from their own page (30 days)

If they forgot, an admin of their shop can add it on their own “Invite and save” page, in the “Were you invited by another shop?” box. This can only be done within 30 days of signing up and always before their first payment. Once saved they'll see “You were invited by” and your shop's name, and it can't be changed.

The invited shop doesn't get any discount for using your code: only the shop that invites benefits. It does get its own code, though, and can invite other shops to pay less too.

When an invited shop brings your bill down

An invited shop only brings your bill down while it pays for its plan: it starts counting with its first paid invoice (not when it subscribes) and counts for every period it pays. In your list, each shop has a status, and the “Brings your bill down?” column tells you clearly whether it counts and, if not, why. These are the statuses:

Hasn't chosen a plan or paid yet

It signed up with your code but hasn't subscribed to a plan yet. It doesn't bring your bill down.

Has a plan, first payment pending

It has subscribed to a plan, but it's in its free period (early access or trial) or its first charge hasn't gone through yet. It doesn't bring your bill down until it pays its first invoice.

Paying

It has paid this period's invoice. It brings your bill down. The “Counts since” column shows the date of its first payment.

Payment pending

It has a plan but hasn't paid this period: for example, the charge failed and is being retried, or its invoice came to 0 because its own plan is free. It doesn't bring your bill down this period and counts again as soon as it pays.

Moved to the Free plan

Its subscription ended and it went back to the free plan. In the “Brings your bill down?” column you'll see “No: it moved to the Free plan on…” with the date, and that its discount is removed. If it subscribes and pays again, it counts again: its link to you isn't lost.

Under review

It matches your shop on the connection (IP address) it signed up from or on its email domain. It doesn't count until Sattotal checks it's a different shop and approves it.

Voided

Sattotal has voided it as a referral: it pays with the same card as your shop, one of its payments was refunded or disputed, or fraudulent use was detected. It won't bring your bill down.

The list only shows each shop's trading name, sign-up date and status: never what it pays or its contact details.

How much it takes off

1 unit per shop per month

For every invited shop that's paying, you pay 1 unit less a month in your plan's currency: €1 if you pay in euros, US$1 if you pay in dollars and, in other currencies, a fixed rounded equivalent (for example £0.76 or MXN 18). The page shows you how much it is in your case.

Cap: your plan for free

The discount never goes above your plan's price for that period: at most, your plan is free. It never builds up a credit balance. There's no limit on how many shops you invite or for how long.

Worked out just before you're charged

The shops that count are the ones paying on the day your invoice is prepared. If one stops paying afterwards, it shows on your next invoice, not that one.

Annual plans

If you pay yearly, the discount builds up month by month and is applied in one go at your annual renewal, capped at your plan's annual price.

Works with Founder Member

If you have the Founder Member price, the discount is applied to that price, which doesn't go up.

It isn't money

The discount isn't paid out, refunded, transferred or exchanged. If you cancel your subscription, you lose whatever has built up and hasn't been applied yet.

Where you see the discount

The discount appears on your Sattotal invoice before it's charged, as a discount line with the number of shops that counted (for example, “Referral discount: 3”). It's taken off before tax is calculated, so you pay tax on the already reduced amount. On the “Invite a shop” page you also have:

Your discount summary

“Paying shops”, “Monthly discount” with its maximum (your plan for free) and “Your next invoice”, an estimate based on the shops paying today that's recalculated just before you're charged. With an annual plan you'll see “Annual plan”: the discount builds up every month and is applied at your renewal.

Your discount history

“Discounts applied to your invoices”: the date of each invoice, how many shops counted and what was actually taken off. If at some point not all of it could be discounted, you'll see it flagged and the difference is made up on your next invoice.

You need a paid plan for the discount to apply

Every shop has a code and can invite from day one, including on the free plan, early access or the trial. But the discount only applies while you have an active paid subscription (Basic, Pro or Enterprise, monthly or annual). Without one, the page tells you so with the notice “For your referrals to bring your bill down, you need a paid plan” and, if you are an admin, a “See plans” button. Your invited shops stay on your list and, as soon as you subscribe, the ones that are paying start to count.

Rules that keep the programme fair

The programme rewards bringing in new shops that genuinely pay. That's why some rules apply automatically:

You can't invite yourself

Your own code isn't accepted, nor is the code of a shop you're a member of or that shares an email address with you (“That code belongs to a shop you're a member of, so it can't be used as an invitation”). Partner codes can't be used as a shop invitation either.

Only a shop that already existed can invite you

You can be invited by a shop that signed up before you did. That way an invitation can't be “returned”: if you invite a shop, that shop can't invite you.

One shop invites you, and that doesn't change

Each shop has a single shop that invited it. The code can only be added after signing up within 30 days and before the first payment: a shop that was already paying without a code came on its own.

Same card, refund or dispute: voided

If the invited shop pays with the same card as yours, or one of its payments is refunded or disputed, it's voided automatically and stops bringing your bill down.

Same connection or same domain: under review

If it signed up from the same IP address as your shop or uses the same email domain, it goes “Under review” and doesn't count until Sattotal approves it.

Fraudulent use

Sattotal can void an invited shop, or all of a shop's referrals, if it detects shops created just to get the discount or any other abuse of the programme. You'll see it as “Voided”.

Updates about your invited shops

“Updates” and the number next to “Invite and save”

When an invited shop changes in a way that affects your discount, we let you know, so you're never waiting for a discount that isn't coming. The number next to “Invite and save” in the menu shows how many updates you haven't seen, and on the page they appear in the “Updates” box, marked “New” the first time: it has paid for its plan and now brings your bill down; it hasn't paid this period and won't bring your bill down until it pays; it moved to the Free plan and its discount is removed; or it has been voided. Opening the page marks them as seen and the number disappears.

If the programme changes

Sattotal can change or end the programme with at least 30 days' notice. Discounts already applied to issued invoices aren't affected.

The full programme terms are in section 5 ter, “‘Invite a shop’ Referral Programme”, of the Terms of Service.
