Side menu and favourites

How the left-hand menu is organised, what its counters and padlocks mean, why a link might be missing and how to pin the ones you use most to the top with Favourites

The side menu is the column on the left that takes you to every screen in Sattotal. On a computer it is always visible; on a phone or tablet you open it with the ☰ button in the header, and it closes by itself as soon as you choose a screen. As well as taking you to each section, it uses counters to show you what is waiting for you, and it lets you move the links you use most into a section of your own, “Favourites”, in whatever order you like.

Grouped by task

Links are split into four sections: Workflow, Sales, Management and System. Support sits below all of them.

Pending counters

A red number next to a link tells you how many things are waiting for you there: unread messages, quotes with no reply, repairs awaiting pickup, alerts, RMAs that need attention, items and services created from the POS that still need completing, or QR sign-ups waiting to be verified.

Padlock on paid modules

On the Free plan, the modules it doesn't include (such as the POS, Invoicing, the Sales Dashboard or the Daily Report) show a padlock. Clicking one opens the window for changing your plan instead of the screen.

Your favourites, right at the top

Star the links you use most and they move up to the “Favourites” section, above all the others. You put them in order by dragging, and they are saved to your account.

The menu sections

Workflow

The workshop's day-to-day work: Dashboard, Daily Report, Board, Repairs, Email Messages, WhatsApp Messages, Quotes, Deliveries and History.

Sales

Everything to do with selling and stock: Sales Dashboard, POS, Invoicing, Delivery notes, Quotes (the sales ones), Items / Parts, Services, Suppliers, Stock warehouses and Stock movements.

Management

Your business records: Customers, Devices, RMA and Device warehouses.

System

Alerts, Plans and Settings. Only the organisation's administrators can open Plans and Settings. Below the sections is Support, for writing to the Sattotal team.

Why can't I see a link?

Not every member sees the same menu, and that isn't a fault. A link doesn't appear when: an administrator has removed your access to that module (User Roles and Permissions); the module isn't available in your organisation's country (POS, Invoicing and Sales Dashboard); it has been switched off in Settings (for example, the POS or Invoicing); or WhatsApp isn't enabled. The Board only appears on wide screens, such as a computer's: it doesn't show on phones or tablets.

Favourites: your links right at the top

If you mainly use a handful of screens every day (say, Repairs, Customers and the POS), you can move them into a section of your own, “Favourites”, which comes first, above Workflow. That way you don't have to go looking for them in their section.

1

Click the star

Hover over the link and click the star that appears on its right. On phones and tablets the star is always visible, slightly fainter.

2

It moves up to Favourites

The link appears in the “Favourites” section at the very top and no longer shows in its usual section, so it isn't duplicated. New favourites are added at the end.

3

Drag to reorder

Drag each favourite by the ⋮⋮ handle that appears on its left and drop it wherever you want. Using the keyboard: Tab to the handle, press Space, move it with the up and down arrow keys and press Space again to drop it (Escape cancels).

4

Remove the star to put it back

Click a favourite's filled star and the link goes back to its section, exactly where it was before. If you remove them all, the “Favourites” section disappears.

Saved to your account

Your favourites and their order are saved to your user account, not to the browser: you'll see them the same on your computer, phone and tablet, and also if you install Sattotal as an app. Each team member has their own; adding or removing a favourite doesn't change anyone else's menu.

They work just as they do in their section

A link in Favourites keeps its pending counters and its padlock, and it is highlighted in the same way when you're on that screen.

If a favourite stops being available

If you lose access to a module, or it is switched off, its link disappears from Favourites too. It isn't lost: it stays saved and goes back to its place in Favourites as soon as it is available again.

Two links with the same name

There are two “Quotes” links: repair quotes, in Workflow, and sales quotes, in Sales. If both are in Favourites, each one shows the name of its section after it (“Quotes · Workflow” and “Quotes · Sales”) so you can tell them apart.

Not the same as favourite customers

The star in the side menu has nothing to do with the one on a customer's record. You mark a customer as a favourite in Customers, and that is used to filter the list; menu favourites only change the order of the links.

What you can't do

You can't rename links, hide the ones you don't use or create links of your own. What each team member sees is decided by an administrator through module permissions (User Roles and Permissions).
