Sattotal comes to Latvia

After Lithuania, the second Baltic country and number 57 overall. Your team can work in English while every document the customer gets is produced in Latvian, as Latvian law expects.

Starting today, you can set Latvia as your organization’s country. It is Sattotal’s 57th country and the second in the Baltics, right after Lithuania. In Latvia, the State Language Law (Valsts valodas likums, Articles 2 and 21) calls for Latvian in consumer-protection information, warranty documents included. With a document language per country, the shop can run Sattotal in English and still hand its customers paperwork, emails and messages written in Latvian.

What changes when you pick Latvia

1

Everything customer-facing, in Latvian

The intake receipt, the repair quote, the delivery sign-off, the technical report, emails and WhatsApp messages are produced in Latvian. Staff screens stay in whatever language each person has chosen.

2

21% PVN, priced in euros

Latvia’s VAT is called PVN, with a standard rate of 21%. As soon as you select the country, your quotes are calculated in euros at that rate.

3

Reģ. Nr., VAT number and 42 municipalities

The company registration number (Reģ. Nr., 11 digits) and the VAT number (LV plus 11 digits) are validated with their check digit. Individual customers are not asked for their personal code (personas kods). Addresses use the 42 municipalities: 7 state cities and 35 novadi.

The legal texts, in Latvian, draw on the Consumer Rights Protection Law (Patērētāju tiesību aizsardzības likums). Customers have two years to claim when a service does not match what was agreed, and must report the problem within two months of finding it; the shop first fixes it at no charge and replies in writing within 15 business days. Unresolved cases go to PTAC’s consumer disputes committee. Here is the big difference from Lithuania: when a device is never picked up, Latvia’s Civil Law (Civillikums, Articles 1734 to 1740) only lets the shop hold on to it until the bill is paid. It cannot sell it, and the documents say exactly that.

Invoicing and point of sale are not available in Latvia for the time being. Everything else (repairs, quotes, customers and customer documents) is ready to use now.

Just open Settings → Organization and select Latvia: tax, currency, tax ID, municipalities and document language are set for you, and you can tailor the texts any time under Settings → Documents. One more thing: in Lithuania, the intake receipt now states the actual rule for devices left behind (written notice, then sale after two months, Art. 6.679) instead of a generic storage-fee clause.
