Sattotal opens up electronics and home appliance repair

Until now the product talked about phones, tablets and computers. From today it also talks about televisions, washing machines, fridges, ovens, air conditioning, games consoles, drones, servers and smartwatches, with their own faults, documentation and demo.

Sattotal was built for IT and mobile phone repair shops, and for months that showed on every screen: the equipment type dropdown offered desktop, laptop, tablet, phone, printer and monitor, and the fault catalogue talked about motherboards and cracked screens. If you ran an appliance repair business and booked in a washing machine, all you had was the catch-all «Other» and a blank field to type the fault into. It worked, but the software wasn't yours: it belonged to another trade and you were making it fit. From today that changes. Sattotal adds twelve new equipment types and forty-two faults specific to the trade, with documentation, a public demo and landing pages in all twenty languages of the site.

The underlying reason is simple: a white goods service business doesn't work like a phone shop. The units are bulky and the repair often starts in the customer's home rather than at a counter. History matters more, because a fridge comes back the following year with a different fault and you need to know what was done to it. And warranty gets argued over: when a customer returns with the same unit, the difference between charging and not charging is having it written down what was replaced and when. All of that already existed in Sattotal —history per unit, warranties with an end date, a signature on handover— but the product couldn't name what you were actually repairing.

The twelve new equipment types

1

White goods

Washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, dishwasher, oven, microwave and air conditioning. The seven big ones in on-site service work, each with its own faults.

2

Televisions

With the faults the trade actually sees: backlight, T-CON board, damaged panel, power board or problems with the TV's own operating system.

3

Games consoles and drones

Xbox and PlayStation with their characteristic failures —optical drive, overheating, controller drift, HDMI port— and drones with motors, propellers, battery, GPS and gimbal.

4

Servers and smartwatches

The two ends of the IT catalogue that were missing: a company's critical kit, and the smallest device that lands on a bench.

The faults are the part you feel day to day. Sattotal's catalogue grows from 115 to 157 causes, and every one of them is tagged by equipment type: when you book in a washing machine, the picker offers a blocked drain pump, worn drum bearings, a faulty inlet valve or a failed control module, instead of making you scroll past forty phone faults that have nothing to do with it. When the unit is a television, you see the television ones. It's a small difference on a spec sheet and an enormous one at the counter, because the technician logs the fault in two taps rather than hunting for it or typing it out — which means they log it every time, not only when there's time to spare.

Equipment type: Washing machine

▸ Power · ▸ Hardware · ▸ Other

☐ Blocked drain pump ☐ Worn drum bearings

☐ Faulty water inlet valve ☐ Failed control module

If you already use Sattotal for phones or computers, there is nothing to do and nothing to change. All of this is additive: the types you were already using stay exactly where they were, with the same names in the same order, and the faults you had carry on appearing exactly as before. The only thing you'll notice is that the equipment type dropdown is longer, and that picking one of the new types brings up causes that didn't exist before. No open job is affected.

An appliance repair, start to finish

1
Booked in or call-out
2
Diagnosis and fault cause
3
Quote approved by email
4
Repair with parts
5
Signed handover

Email-approved quotes pay for themselves in this trade in particular: when the unit is in the customer's home, every in-person signature is a journey. Letting the customer accept from their phone, with a record of who approved it and when, saves a second trip that nobody gets paid for.

Warranty tracking takes on a different weight here too. Every repair stores its warranty end date, so when a customer comes back with the same fridge three months later there's nothing to argue about: you open the unit's record, see what was replaced, with which part, and how long it's covered for. If it's under warranty, the repair is logged as such; if it isn't, it gets invoiced without any awkwardness. And if the part that failed was faulty to begin with, the RMA module lets you send it back to the supplier and follow its status without losing sight of the customer waiting on their appliance.

Where to find it

1

When you book equipment in

The device type dropdown, both on the check-in screen and on each unit's record, already includes the twelve new types.

2

In the fault catalogue

Settings → Fault causes. You can filter by equipment type and add your own, which sit alongside the standard catalogue.

3

On the dashboard chart

The repairs chart now shows only the types you actually work on, so it doesn't fill up with flat lines for equipment you never touch.

All of it comes with the things that make a feature usable rather than merely present. The in-app help and the public documentation now cover all eighteen equipment types, including a card explaining how faults are filtered by what you repair. The public demo, which you can try without signing up and without a card, includes real examples from these trades —a television with a blown backlight, a washing machine that won't drain, a console that won't read discs— with photographs of actual equipment instead of grey placeholder boxes. And we've published a dedicated home appliance repair page in all twenty languages of the site, with the address people actually search for in each market, so that anyone typing «software for repairing washing machines» finds us.

It's available from today on every plan, with nothing to configure and no extra cost. If your business repairs appliances, televisions, consoles or drones, you can now book them in with their own faults.
