Sattotal comes to Latvia
After Lithuania, the second Baltic country and number 57 in all. The team can work in English while every document the customer receives is produced in Latvian, as Latvian law expects.
From today, Latvia can be set as your organisation’s country. It is Sattotal’s 57th and the second Baltic country, following straight on from Lithuania. Latvia’s State Language Law (Valsts valodas likums, Articles 2 and 21) requires Latvian for consumer-protection information, and that includes warranty documents. With a document language per country, the repair shop can run Sattotal in English while its customers receive paperwork, emails and messages written in Latvian.
What changes when you choose Latvia
Everything the customer sees, in Latvian
The deposit receipt, the repair quote, the collection sign-off, the technical report, emails and WhatsApp messages are produced in Latvian. Staff screens stay in the language each person has chosen.
21% PVN, in euros
Latvian VAT is known as PVN and the standard rate is 21%. Once you select the country, your quotes are worked out in euros at that rate.
Reģ. Nr., VAT number and 42 municipalities
The company registration number (Reģ. Nr., 11 digits) and the VAT number (LV followed by 11 digits) are validated against their check digit. Private customers are not asked for their personal code (personas kods). Addresses use the 42 municipalities: 7 state cities and 35 novadi.
The legal texts, in Latvian, are based on the Consumer Rights Protection Law (Patērētāju tiesību aizsardzības likums), not on the UK rules the interface language might suggest. Customers have two years to claim for a service that falls short of what was agreed, notifying the fault within two months of discovering it; the shop first puts it right free of charge and replies in writing within 15 working days. Disputes that cannot be settled go to the PTAC consumer disputes committee. The key difference from Lithuania: for a device that is never collected, the Latvian Civil Law (Civillikums, Articles 1734 to 1740) only allows the shop to retain it until payment is made. Selling it is not an option, and the documents make that clear.
Invoicing and point of sale are not yet available in Latvia. Everything else (repairs, quotes, customers and customer documents) can be used straight away.
Simply go to Settings → Organisation and select Latvia: tax, currency, tax identifier, municipalities and document language are configured for you, and the texts can be tailored whenever you like under Settings → Documents. Also worth knowing: in Lithuania, the deposit receipt now sets out the real rule for uncollected devices (written notice, then sale after two months, Art. 6.679) in place of a generic storage-fee clause.
