Sattotal arrives in Estonia, completing the Baltics
Estonia joins Lithuania and Latvia, so all three Baltic countries are now on Sattotal. The team can work in English while customers receive every document in Estonian, as Estonian consumer law requires.
Estonia now appears in the list of countries for your organisation. It is number 58 and completes the Baltic trio: Lithuania and Latvia were already live, so all three are covered. Under Estonia’s Consumer Protection Act (Tarbijakaitseseadus, § 4(3)), information for consumers must be provided in Estonian unless the consumer agrees to another language. Sattotal keeps the two separate: staff can use the app in English, and everything handed over to the customer is generated in Estonian.
What is switched on when you select Estonia
Customer documents in Estonian
The deposit receipt, the repair quote, the collection sign-off and the technical report are printed in Estonian, as are emails and WhatsApp messages. Each member of staff keeps their own screen language.
24% käibemaks, in euros
Estonian VAT (käibemaks) has a standard rate of 24%, and Sattotal applies it to your quotes in euros as soon as the country is chosen.
Registrikood, KMKR and 15 counties
The company registrikood (8 digits) and the KMKR VAT number (EE followed by 9 digits) are validated against their check digit. Private customers are not asked for their isikukood, the personal identification code. Addresses are organised by the 15 counties (maakonnad).
The legal texts in Estonian are based on the Law of Obligations Act (Võlaõigusseadus, §§ 635–654). The shop is liable for defects in its work for two years, and a fault appearing within the first six months is presumed to have existed already; the customer must give notice within two months of discovering it. The cost estimate is binding unless otherwise agreed. Complaints are answered within 15 days, and where no agreement is reached the customer may refer the matter to the Consumer Disputes Committee (Tarbijavaidluste komisjon) at the TTJA.
For the time being, invoicing and point of sale are not active in Estonia. Repairs, quotes, customers and customer documents all work from the outset.
Devices left uncollected are treated differently in each Baltic country, and Sattotal applies the right rule for each: Lithuania permits a sale after written notice and two months, Latvia permits retention only, and in Estonia the shop has a statutory pledge that allows a sale only after one month’s notice, as a rule by public auction, with any surplus returned to the customer (agreeing that the device simply passes to the shop is void). To begin, go to Settings → Organisation and select Estonia: tax, currency, identifiers, counties and document language are configured for you, and the texts can be refined under Settings → Documents.
