Gaborone holds the government, the offices and most of the country's middle class: a shop here serves both the civil servant bringing in a laptop and the company that sends fifteen at once.
The office customer will not take a handwritten receipt, and the counter customer wants the phone back today. Running both out of a notebook is how a three-month warranty ends up impossible to prove.
Every intake gets its own file: IMEI and photos taken at the counter, a quote approved by email, and a signed handover that states the section 17 warranty with its date.
Job cards with IMEI or serial
Every device booked in with its IMEI, serial, make and model, so two identical units never get swapped on the bench.
The three-month warranty, stated
Section 17(1) of the Consumer Protection Act warrants every new or re-conditioned part you fit, and the labour to fit it, for three months from installation. Your handover paperwork says so, dated.
A recurring fault is not a second repair
Section 16(4) is stricter than most shops realise: if the same problem comes back within three months of a repair, the customer is entitled to a replacement or a refund. Keeping the original job card and photos is how you handle that calmly.
Written approval before you start
The Act sets no estimate procedure, which is exactly why your own record matters. The customer approves by email and the approval is timestamped.
Built for Botswana
VAT at 14%, amounts in pula (P), districts and towns in the address, and no postal code field to fight with — Botswana does not use them.
Works from a phone
Cloud-based, nothing to install, backups included. A power cut at the shop does not take your job cards with it.

Frequently asked questions
Will it work for a repair shop in Gaborone?
Yes. Sattotal runs in the browser, so a shop in Gaborone can open job cards from the counter, a laptop or a phone with nothing installed.
Does it use Botswana VAT, not UK VAT?
Yes. Pick Botswana as your country and everything switches to 14% VAT and pula (P), not 20% and pounds. Compulsory VAT registration starts at BWP 1,000,000 of taxable supplies a year, with voluntary registration available from BWP 500,000.
What exactly does the Consumer Protection Act ask of a repairer?
Three things worth knowing. Section 14 gives the customer the right to demand quality service. Section 17(1) warrants every new or re-conditioned part you install, and the labour to install it, for three months from the date of installation, or longer if you say so in writing. And section 16(4) says that if you repair returned goods and the same problem recurs within three months, the customer is entitled to a replacement or a refund rather than another repair.
Am I required to give a written estimate?
No. The Act prescribes no pre-authorisation procedure for repairs, unlike some neighbouring countries. That cuts both ways: with no statutory process behind you, a recorded approval is the only thing that settles a disagreement about what was agreed.
Why is there no postal code field?
Because Botswana does not use postal codes. Addresses are built from the district or council, the locality and the street or P.O. Box, and that is exactly how the address form works when you pick Botswana.
What happens when a customer never collects?
You get reminders and a record of every notice sent. Worth knowing: under the Roman-Dutch common law applied in Botswana a repairer has a lien over the goods and may hold them until paid, but may not sell them.
What does it cost to start?
Nothing. There is a free plan, and pricing per technician once your team grows.
